Staff of the Russian Embassy in Eritrea visited the village, where was born Ibrahim (Abram) Hannibal, the great-grandfarther of the Russian poet
As a part of the celebration of the 225-th anniversary of the birth of Alexander Pushkin, staff of the Russian Embassy in Eritrea visited the village Adi Logo, 20 kilometres from the capital Asmara, where, according to Eritreans, Ibrahim (Abram) Hannibal, the great-grandfarther of the Russian poet, was born.
Representatives of the local authorities showed the Russians the site of Ibrahim's family home, the ancient Sycamore tree, which is over 350 years old and which Eritreans claim belonged to Hannibal's family. The oldest descendant of Abram Petrovich was introduced to the Russian Ambassador Igor Mozgo.
The old man told Ambassador his version of disappearance of Ibrahim and his sister from the village. In the official part of the program, the Ambassador and representatives of local authorities exchanged welcoming speaches and souvenirs related to Alexander Pushkin and his grear-grandfather.
